Step Out: Walk to Fight Diabetes

A year ago I couldn't walk the 4 blocks around the courthouse square. Last weekend I not only walked 4 blocks, but actually 4 miles. And not just on the flat ground but up and down hills. I walked with a big "foot" pinned to my chest with the following: "Roy, Sue, Cindy, Carly, Tom--I'm walking for all of you!" Husband, sister, niece, girlhood friend, and wonderful friend in Cave Creek, whom all have diabetes.

And I didn't do it alone, but with a group of wonderful friends. All of these fantastic women lead busy working lives, and I know had other things they needed to do on a sunny Saturday in mid-October, but because of our friendships, they were there to do the walk and support me in my endeavor. The group was aptly named The Fab Friends, and raised over $250 total.

A big thanks to these great friends; for their support, participation and donations. And to all of the wonderful donors who helped raise the money for this close to my heart organization, the American Diabetes Association.
